چکیده
The Rouse formula and its variants have been widely used to describe the vertical distribution of sediment concentration in sediment-laden flows equilibrium. Han’s extends non-equilibrium regimes, where diffusive flux is still assumed be Fickian. turbulent flow suspension regimes downstream a mega-reservoir, e.g., Three Gorges Reservoir, usually exhibit fractal unsaturated properties, respectively. To characterize non-Fickian dynamics suspended regime natural dammed rivers, this study proposes new for profile based on Hausdorff derivative advection–dispersion equation. In addition, we find that order related sizes degrees non-equilibrium. Compared formulae, performs better describing profiles Jingjiang Reach, approximately 100 km below Dam.

Dynamic channel adjustments in the Jingjiang Reach of the Middle Yangtze River
Significant channel adjustments have occurred in the Jingjiang Reach of the Middle Yangtze River, because of the operation of the Three Gorges Project (TGP). The Jingjiang Reach is selected as the study area, covering the Upper Jingjiang Reach (UJR) and Lower Jingjiang Reach (LJR). The reach-scale bankfull channel dimensions in the study reach were calculated annually from 2002 to 2013 by means...
متن کاملEstimation of suspended sediment concentrations using Terra MODIS: an example from the Lower Yangtze River, China.
Traditional measurements of suspended sediment concentrations (SSC) through in-situ sampling in rivers are expensive and time-consuming to perform. Thus, these methods cannot provide continuous SSC records. Although remote sensing has been used for SSC estimation, little research has been undertaken on inland rivers, especially for highly turbid rivers like the Yangtze. Previous studies have pr...
متن کاملDual Behavior of Suspended Sediment Concentration in a Regulated River
Better understanding of suspended sediment transport processes allows for better management of both rivers and coasts. Based on field data and sediment transport energy theory, this study presents an analysis on the suspended sediment hysteresis in the Lower Tenryu River of Japan in connection to the channel carrying capacity of suspended sediment and morphological characteristics. The transpor...
متن کاملQuantifying the Effects of Near-Bed Concentration on the Sediment Flux after the Operation of the Three Gorges Dam, Yangtze River
The regime of sediment transport in the Jingjiang Reach has significantly changed from quasi-equilibrium to sub-saturation since the impoundment of the Three Gorges Dam (TGD), and vertical profiles of suspended sediment concentration (SSC) have changed accordingly. Vertical profiles of SSC data measured at three hydrological stations in the Jingjiang Reach (Zhicheng, Shaishi, and Jianli), befor...
متن کاملSediment yield mapping in a large river basin: the Upper Yangtze, China
A number of studies have mapped sediment yield at global or regional scales using sediment load measurements from rivers. However, the suitability of the limited mapping methods has not been fully addressed, particularly for large river basins where the sediment load data were obtained from a hierarchical river network. This study examines some of the issues related to the mapping approaches us...
